How TalkWithStrangers.club Works
Here is how TalkWithStrangers.club works, step by step: exactly what happens when you tap Start, from matching to moderation to your data.
Start ChattingHow TalkWithStrangers.club Works: Matching
When you tap Start you join a queue for your chosen mode (text, voice or video). If you added interest tags, TalkWithStrangers.club first looks for someone waiting with a matching tag. If none is found within a few seconds, you are matched with the next available person, so you never wait long. Country and language chats limit the queue to people who chose the same country or language.
Modes
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Text | Messages pass through filters before delivery |
| Voice | Peer-to-peer audio via WebRTC; not recorded |
| Video | Peer-to-peer video via WebRTC; camera opt-in; not recorded |
| Rooms | Persistent group text chats run by the TalkWithStrangers.club team |
Switching and Skipping
Either person can skip at any time. You can move from text to voice or video only if both people agree, and drop back at any time.
Friends
Either person can send a friend request. If both agree, you can message each other later. Unfriend or block at any time.
Moderation
Text is checked by automated filters before delivery. Reports go to human moderators. Repeat offenders are banned at account and device level. See Community Guidelines.
Your Data
To chat, we use a random handle and technical data such as IP address for abuse prevention. Email is optional. Voice and video are not recorded. You can delete your data at any time. Full details: Privacy Policy.

Rooms Behind the Scenes
Rooms are created by the TalkWithStrangers.club team. Messages pass the same filters as private chats. Moderators can slow down a busy room, lock it temporarily or remove messages and users that break the rules.
Accessibility
Text chat works with screen readers and for Deaf and hard-of-hearing users. Dark mode reduces glare at night. We welcome accessibility feedback through Support.
Frequently Misunderstood
"Random means anyone, anywhere." It's random within the filters you choose: interests, country or language. "The site sees my video." Video and voice connect directly between browsers and aren't recorded. "Skipping reports someone." No; skipping just ends the chat. Use Report to flag rule-breaking.
Tips for the Best Experience
Add two to five specific interests, give each chat a minute, start in text if you're unsure, and send friend requests to people you enjoy talking to.
Moderation at a Glance
| Layer | What it does |
|---|---|
| Age confirmation | Keeps stranger chat adults-only |
| Pre-delivery filter | Stops many harmful messages before they arrive |
| Link controls | Restricts links from new and unknown handles |
| Reports | One tap on any message or call |
| Human review | Moderators assess reports in context |
| Enforcement | Warnings, timed bans, permanent and device-level bans |
Switching Devices
Your handle lives on the device you use. To keep friends when you move between phone and laptop, add an optional email in Settings; your friends list follows you. You can remove the email or delete everything at any time.
Leaving and Deleting
Close the tab to leave. To remove your data, use Settings.
