Why These Rules Exist
Random chat puts strangers together instantly. That's what makes it fun, and it's also why clear rules matter. Every rule here exists to prevent a specific harm we know happens on chat platforms: minors being contacted by adults, unwanted sexual content, harassment, scams and people's private information being exposed.
Rules in Detail
### Minors Users must be 18 or older. If someone says they are under 18, or appears to be, end the chat and report it with the "minor" category. Never ask anyone for proof of age, photos or ID; that's for moderators.
### Sexual content No explicit messages, images, links or on-camera acts, and no asking for them. This applies in text, voice, video and rooms.
### Harassment and threats No insults aimed at people, repeated unwanted contact, intimidation or threats. Disagreement is fine; personal attacks are not.
### Hate No attacks or slurs based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or illness.
### Privacy Don't share anyone's personal information, including names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, schools or photos, and don't record or screenshot others without consent.
### Scams and spam No requests for money, gift cards, crypto or codes; no phishing links; no advertising; no repeated messages.
### Illegal activity No promotion or arrangement of illegal activity of any kind.
How We Decide
Moderators look at the reported content, its context and the user's history. Serious violations, especially anything involving minors, lead to immediate permanent bans. Lesser first-time violations may get a warning or a temporary ban.
Your Role
Report rule-breaking instead of arguing, block anyone who bothers you, and help newcomers understand the rules. A good community is built by the people in it.
Examples: Allowed vs Not Allowed
| Allowed | Not allowed |
|---|---|
| "Where in the world are you chatting from?" | "What's your address?" |
| Debating a film or a football team | Insulting someone's nationality or religion |
| Sharing a song or show you love | Posting links to adult or scam sites |
| Saying "not interested" and skipping | Repeatedly messaging someone who said no |
| Asking for language corrections | Asking for photos or social handles to "verify" someone |
Reporting a Violation
Tap the flag on a message or Report in the chat menu, choose the category and add a line of context. You can block the person at the same time. For threats to life, contact local police first. See how to report someone.
Updates to These Guidelines
We update these rules when we see new kinds of harm or when the law changes, and we note material changes on this page.
